About 150 million children under five – one in four - are malnourished. In 2006, UNICEF's procurement of nutrition supplies totalled $32 million, ranging from micronutrients, oral rehydration salts and zinc, therapeutic food for malnourshed children to scales and cooking kits. The main focus was on supplies requested for emergency situations. There was a very large increase in the procurement of therapeutic spread (made of peanut butter with added vitamins and minerals). This product was supplied at a value of $9 million.
