Warehouses
UNICEF’s main warehouse is in Copenhagen, but the Division
also currently has emergency hubs in Johannesburg, Colon and Dubai
to meet the needs of 320,000 people.
Warehouse activities saw another record year in 2005 with throughput
up by 8 per cent both in terms of value, weight, volume and number
of packs handled. Throughput reached an unprecedented $81.5 million
(see table for breakdown). Some 62,000 emergency kits worth approximately
$11.6 million were assembled.
In 2005, approximately 8,000 sea and air shipments were managed
by Supply Division, including nearly 100 full charter flights
