Celebrating Global Hand Washing Day in Zallingi, central Darfur
About 2000 students and their parents participated in the event along with government officials and locality’s commissioner. Minister of health emphasized, in his speech, on the importance of washing hands and maintaining good hygiene practice.



2012 Enrolment Campaign in Nyala, Darfur
With UNICEF support, the Ministry of Education together with its partners launched the school enrolment campaign in Beleil locality on Monday 17 September 2012. The campaign targets the lowest enrolment rate localities, kass, Kabum, Gereida and Demso.



Leaping towards a better future
Kassala in eastern Sudan has one of the lowest enrolment rates in the country, with only 57% of children attending school. Facilities are often low-grade or lacking altogether. The Halit Siddiq school is far from being ideal, but it is functional.

Growing hungry in Kassala
The state of Kassala in eastern Sudan registers some of the highest malnutrition rates in Sudan. We visited feeding centers in a remote village in Kassala and met with some of the mothers to speak about nutrition, or lack thereof.



Reaching schools affected by floods in South Darfur: A trip by car, donkey, and on foot
The rainy season can be an opportunity for celebration in Sudan. This year, however, the rains turned into deadly floods in many parts of the country. A UNICEF team visited villages in South Darfur, to see for themselves the extent of damage to schools.
