Logistics Officer (NOA) - Nyala
Purpose of the post
Under the direct guidance of the Operations Officer, Nyala Field Office, the incumbent will be responsible for UNICEF internal transportation, supply and warehousing, field communication and support to field vehicles.
Major duties and responsibilities
- Provide support to UNICEF warehouses and warehouses of counterparts in the field by reviewing the situation, including updating profiles, standardization of warehouse operational procedures and identifying the feasibility of warehouses.
- Monitor and reconcile stock reports, age reports from the UNICEF warehouse (using UNITRACK software) and warehouses of counterparts (if applicable) in order to assist management with programme implementation.
- Coordinate with the UNICEF Supply/Logistics Section in Khartoum on fuel and transportation by monitoring and identifying issues to be addressed.
- Assist the Operations Officer on transportation of supplies from Nyala to project sites by communicating with contractors and other service providers including UN and NGOs. Assist with issues with relevant authorities, such as civil aviation authorities, on transportation.
- Conduct market surveys and issuance of bidding for local procurement in Nyala.
- Verify and certify invoices from transport contractors including air, barge and land.
- Plan weekly activity scheduling for monitoring and ensure recordi-keeping and filing of requests and release orders.
- Assist the Operations Officer on coordination of non-food item programmes
- Report on supply end-user evaluation.
- Ensure necessary information is shared with logistics colleagues in the Sudan Country Office in Khartoum.
- Provide training to logistics staff at the field office level
- Other administrative duties as specified by the supervisor
Minimum qualifications and experience required
- Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field
- Minimum one year of relevant professional work experience in supply/logistics management at national and/or international levels.
- Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
- Good computer skills
