Priorities for 2006 include:
- Undertaking a study to understand the underlying causes of child under-nutrition
- Consolidating support to national nutrition policy development • Addressing factors leading to neonatal mortality, • Identifying human resource gaps in the health sector in the North East.
- Strengthening health management information systems
- Operationalising the delivery of early childhood development services to children with disabilities, with a focus on early identification at family and community levels and timely referral.
- Consolidating the construction and renovation of tsunami affected health facilities
- Providing hygiene promotion and community capacity building services
- Strengthening monitoring and evaluation mechanisms at different levels
