The Spanish National Committee for UNICEF signed in partnership with Real Madrid in February 2004 to leverage the power of football, using the goodwill of both organisations to help children. The partnership, 'Derecho a jugar' or the right to play, is focusing on national and global fund-raising and communication activities. The partnership will intergrate the existing efforts of Real Madrid "Schools Programmes" to support of UNICEF country programmes in El Salvador, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile.
