Children's participation: Other useful information
Child-Friendly Version of 'A World Fit for Children'
Save the Children prepared a Child-Friendly
version of 'A World Fit for Children' (PDF; this version
includes the dictionary of words and terminology).
Save the Children also wrote A
Young Person's Guide to the 2002 UN Special Session on Children
(PDF) that provides information on what happened at the Special
Session and how children and adolescents can be involved in
follow-up action.
The Secretary-General published 'We the Children', a report
that describes how much progress countries made in reaching
goals to improve children's lives between the 1990 World Summit
for Children and the 2002 Special Session. You can also read
the Child-Friendly
Summary of 'We the Children' (PDF) prepared by Save the

Preparatory Committee meetings of the Special Session, see

Opinion polls
In addition, in the run-up to the Special Session, nearly
40,000 children and young people were interviewed on issues
related to their lives, families, schools, communities and
governments, as well as their hopes and dreams for the future.
Girls and boys in 72 countries in East Asia and the Pacific,
Europe and Central Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean
participated in these opinion polls organized by UNICEF. The
polls reflect the views of some 500 million children, aged
9 to 18, living in these regions.

polls.
