Children's Forum: Opening ceremony of the three-day
event. The opening ceremony is open to guests. Some
300 under-18 delegates to the Special Session on Children
will gather at the Forum to explore the issues of the
draft Outcome Document of the Special Session, 'A World
Fit for Children', in the framework of the ten points
of the Rallying Call of the Global Movement for Children.
Young delegates to the Special Session will also prepare
for their participation in the Session itself and discuss
their role in implementing the Outcome Document.

The event will highlight the recruitment of child soldiers

A short film on disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration
activities will be shown. Participants will include
government and NGO delegates to the Special Session,
youth delegates, and media. The event is open to all
participants. The main organizers are the OSRSG for
Children and Armed Conflict and UNICEF, with support

which will present arguments on this issue. It will
take the form of a court session, with complainants
and defendants and in which children themselves will
have the last word.

lives; UNICEF's efforts to promote breastfeeding; and

Public-Private Partnership Dialogue
This will be an unscripted exchange between a small
number of corporate leaders, Heads of State/Government,
UN leadership and the chief executives of several Global
Movement for Children supporting organizations. They
will discuss their experiences over the last decade
in pursuit of child focused goals and express their
commitments to the new global agenda for children to
be approved at the Special Session. Participation in
and attendance at the Dialogue is by invitation only.

Panel: "Refugee Children: One Day I Had to Run"
This event aims to highlight the plight of refugee and
internally displaced children and strengthen commitments
from leaders to address their concerns and provide services
to protect and promote their rights. The UN High Commissioner
for Refugees will participate in the panel discussion,
together with representatives from two leading international
NGOs, two young people and UNHCR's Goodwill Ambassador
Angelina Jolie. The discussion will be followed by a
moderated plenary debate open to all delegates. (Convened
by UNHCR, the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and
Children and the International Rescue Committee)
