Summary: Meet Bakhita Taabit, an ll years old girl who lives in central Sudan, in a remote nomad's village. She wants to go to school and someday become an engineer. But because her family migrates from July to October in search of water and pasture it's been particularly hard for girls like her to have access to education. Until recently, when UNICEF came up with a project for nomads' education. The idea caught on when the government decided to establish a school in Goz El Marekh. In this beautifully shot video viewers see how the community contributes to the project and witness the first time villagers agreed to send their daughters to school. Now, in their one class school there are 21 girls and 23 boys. Two years ago only 20 out of 600 knew how to read and write. |
