Working with youth organizations

UNICEF's work with youth organizations is undertaken principally through the Alliance of Youth CEOs (the Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, YMCA, YWCA, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Youth Foundation and the International Awards Association), which together command a membership of over 100 million young people.

One major initiative involved the joint development of a publication that embodies a policy and guidelines for child and youth participation. At the same time, copies of a new Memorandum of Understanding between UNICEF and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) identify the commitment to work together to help equip young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute to the building of a more peaceful world, including the promotion of child-friendly education and life-skills to fight HIV/AIDS
