In 2004, UNICEF and Stora Enso, a global integrated paper, packaging and forest products company, entered into a five-year agreement to help UNICEF achieve quality basic education for children everywhere.

Stora Enso will contribute in excess of US $2.5 million during the five-year period through philanthropic cash donations, company-wide voluntary employee-giving programmes, customized corporate UNICEF greeting card distribution and in-kind assistance.

Together Stora Enso and UNICEF are developing local-level, national-based initiatives, including cross-promotional agreements with its business-to-business sales and marketing network.

The partnership is wholly consistent with Stora Enso's long-standing dedication to sustainable development and social responsibility.  The company has developed a complete intranet site with information, tools and guidelines about the partnership and is accessible to all business units to encourage local engagement.

Stora Enso is UNICEF's first global partner in basic education, supporting UNICEF in its worldwide aim to achieve quality basic education for children everywhere.
