Oversee and forecast trends in the charity sector? UNICEF Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) division in Geneva does just this in its Market Knowledge team by implementing quality market knowledge, primarily through research surveys, in order to increase fundraising and market revenue for UNICEF programmes, to help build a better world for children.
There is currently one temporary position available in our Market Knowledge team which will serve as a maternity leave cover. In order to ensure business continuity during this period, a Market Research Officer is being recruited.
PURPOSE:
The Market Research Officer will:
. Design, monitor & guide successful progress of surveys (including the annual Brand Tracking Study) by assuring the research design addresses the organization's questions, ensures fieldwork is conducted at high standards, results are delivered on time, and are properly analysed and interpreted, leading to action by the stakeholders.
. Provide holistic perspectives on the organization's questions and priorities including primary research, secondary research, internal and external interviewing, using available information, industry research, market measurements, etc.
. Provide top quality market knowledge and insights to PFP & National committee stakeholders in UNICEF countries.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
. Ensures high quality execution of research studies, especially in the fieldwork, coordination, and analysis stages : Monitors and guides the progress of the different surveys by assuring the coordination between the selected research agency and PFP Market research, checking the questionnaires/interviews guidelines, monitoring the field work, checking the processing plan, and insuring that the report is delivered in due time.
. Ensures that research results are optimally exploited: Using SPSS or any other similar software, makes all necessary additional analysis on the survey results to fully exploit the results and increase UNICEF market intelligence.
. Participates in new research project designs: Under the supervision of the Market Research Manager, participates in designing research plans, selecting the appropriate methodology and addressing issues identified.
. Participates in the dissemination of market knowledge and intelligence: Under the supervision of the Market Research Manager, reviews and presents the market research results to brand management/all relevant PFP staff/National Committees and field offices. Interfaces with the relevant Market Knowledge Centre (MKC) technical support in order to ensure that main research projects are visible and accessible on the MKC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
. University degree or equivalent technical education in market research.
. Minimum 4 years experience in roles handling market research projects, in research agencies or research user companies.
. Knowledge and experience of market research, including project design, questionnaire drafting, data analysis.
. Knowledge and experience working with basic research methodologies, both quantitative (habits & practices, equity, communication, etc.) and qualitative (focus groups, in-depth interviews, other).
. Project management skills are essential, including planning, adaptability to changing circumstances, monitoring of progress, etc.
. High level of professionalism
. Excellent presentation and communication skills
. Expert user of standard office software applications; knowledge of market research software is an asset (e.g. SPSS)
. Ability to work in an international multicultural environment and excellent team player
. Proven ability to work under pressure and strict guidelines
. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of the local language of the duty station (French) is an asset.
The recommended candidate will be offered a Temporary Appointment contract of 6 months.
