WES Specialist (Knowledge Management and Capacity Building), L-2, Programme Group, New York Headquarters (TFT)

Knowledge Management and capacity building WES programming: you will support the WES section in the systematic identification and documentation of good practices and lessons learned in UNICEF, including WES in emergency; support for building emergency human resource capacity. You will support the building and strengthening of systems, procedures and methods for improved knowledge management within WES. These activities will be performed in close and ongoing collaboration with the Regional Offices and Country Offices, Human Resources, Evaluation Office, Global Policy Section, Programme Division and others as appropriate.

Majors duties:
1. In collaboration with WES Focal Points in relevant sections, enhance knowledge management through improvement, maintenance and sharing of internet-based and other capacity-building tools, including: WES internet, intranet, humanitarian reform site for IASC WASH Cluster, Global Web Roster, newsletter. Coordinate the exchange of information between Regions and build mechanisms/tools to facilitate these processes; compile information and develop a central clearinghouse or other mechanisms enabling cross-regional exchange of knowledge.
2. Coordinate/manage the production and distribution of advocacy, communication, programming and technical guidance, publications and working papers on WES with a special focus on emergency.
3. Coordinate/manage the collection, documentation and dissemination of UNICEF and partners programming experience and best practices for WES including emergency WES.
4. Support efforts in Emergency WES capacity Building
5. Participate in the collection, updating and analysis of current data on WES (programmes) for global and regional overviews, situation analysis/project planning, management, and monitoring and evaluation purposes. Assist in with preparation of programme guidelines, review of country programme and project documents on related issues. Maintain computerized data and information systems as required.
6. Ensure timely implementation of the emergency IASC WASH Cluster projects activities by assessing conditions and resources and monitoring UNICEF inputs. Undertake follow-up action as required.
7. Participate in the identification and selection of materials to support capacity building of staff and partners. Help organize activities in this regard.
8. Participate in the drafting of documents and plans as required including annual work plans, donor proposals and reports, relevant sections of annual reports and analyses.
9. Provide assistance to the WES unit on tasks as deemed necessary.

Your profile:
. University degree, preferably advanced degree or equivalent backgrounds, in relevant disciplines of Social Sciences.
. At least four years of professional work experience in project administration, monitoring and data collection and analysis, preferably with an international development agency or NGO.
. Languages: Fluency in English and another UN working language required.
