South Africa celebrates World Breastfeeding Week every year from 1 - 7 August. The aim of the week is to promote the benefits of breastfeeding; warn of the risks of formula feeding; motivate the healthcare system to encourage breastfeeding; and to promote support for mothers in their communities.
