The Government of Japan and UNICEF provided equipment worth 351,000 Dollars for the improvement of the immunization system in Serbia
Belgrade, 23 April 2008 – Within the improvement of the immunization in Serbia, thanks to the generous donation of the Government of Japan amounting to US$ 351,000 UNICEF has provided the equipment for the cold chain in the immunization system. The donation consists of 300 refrigerators and 700 cold boxes with accompanying accessories which will be distributed to all health centers in Serbia. The provision of the cold chain includes the correct keeping and transport of the vaccines, one of the most important preconditions for successful vaccination. The assessment of the existing equipment revealed that in the majority of health centers in Serbia the cold chain equipment is either non-existent or very old and out of order. The new equipment will improve the immunization system in the country as well as the quality of the health care of our citizens, specially the youngest ones. Саопштење за медије на СРПСКОМ
