Emir Kusturica is the most celebrated and artistically controversial Serbian film director working today, equally loved by the audience and critics.

From the beginning of his career, Kusturica earned awards at the Venice Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival and above all the Cannes Film Festival he won Palme d’Or two times: 1985 and 1995 and a special award Roberto Rosellini (for lifetime achievement in film). Kusturica’s work is highly original and not easy to classify under existing stereotypes or theories.

Emir Kusturica is a worldwide famous film director, but his creativity probes in other fields as well: music, writing, teaching film directing, acting (in episode roles) sometimes and even film camera operating.

Emir Kusturica was inaugurated as UNICEF National Ambassador for Serbia in 2002.
