Change for children
Cooperation between UNICEF Serbia and Square Nine Hotel
Belgrade, Serbia, 26 February 2014 - UNICEF and the Square Nine Hotel in Belgrade announced today the beginning of cooperation on the "Change for Children " project within which funds will be raised for UNICEF through the Hotel guests' donations.
The project will officially begin on 1 March 2014. The hotel guests will have an opportunity to add to their hotel bill a minimum of 100 dinars (equivalent of $ 1), or more if they wish.
"UNICEF has had this kind of cooperation with a number of hotels around the world for 20 years. This is first time that such a collaboration is established in Serbia. The Square Nine Hotel has recognized the importance of investing in children and engagement of the business sector in the realisation of child rights. I congratulate them for this. I am sure that through this unique partnership we will together contribute to creating a better environment for the growth and development of every child in Serbia, " said Mr. Michel Saint -Lot , UNICEF Representative.
"We are extremely happy to have the opportunity to once again be pioneers in our country. This is for us one of the most important moments of 2014, and the most important contract that we will sign this year. It is essential that companies operating in Serbia understand how important social responsibility is, and to embrace it as an integral part of their daily operations " stated Goran Kovacevic , Director of the Square Nine Hotel.
Proceeds collected at the Square Nine hotel will be used for the UNICF programmes aimed at the improvement of lives of children in Serbia, particularly those who are most vulnerable and excluded.
