Bureau of the Executive Board of UNICEF Visits Serbia
Belgrade, 17 April 2013 - Delegation of the UNICEF Executive Board Bureau arrives today to the Republic of Serbia for a four-day visit.
The objective of the visit is to provide the Bureau members with a first- hand understanding of the situation of children and their families in the country, and to discuss with partners priorities, strategies and results of the country programme of UNICEF Serbia.
During the visit, the delegation will meet with senior Government and Parliament officials, members of the UN Country team, Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, representatives of civil society and service providers, as well as with children and their families.
UNICEF is governed by an Executive Board which is made up of 36 Member States representing Africa (8 seats), Asia (7), Eastern Europe (4), Latin America and the Caribbean (5) and Western Europe and Others (12). A Bureau with five members representing the five regional groups is elected each year.
The members of the delegation visiting Serbia are H.E. Mr. Jarmo Viinanen from Finland (president of the Executive Board), H.E. Mr. Ferit Hoxha from Albania, H.E. Mr. George Wilfred Talbot from Guyana, Mr. John Mosoti from Kenya and Mr. Hossein Gharibi from the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Secretary of the Executive Board, Mr. Nicolas Pron.
