We have already changed the world

Two peace and tolerance summer camps were successfully held in July 2007, in North Osetia and Ingushetia. Carel De Rooy, UNICEF Representative in the Russian Federation and Belarus, Dr. Rashed Mustafa, Head of UNICEF’s North Caucasus Office, government representatives and local media all visited the summer camps and had the opportunity to observe the effectiveness of these peace- and tolerance-promoting projects. Further peace camps took place in the republics of Chechnya, Kabardino-Balkaria and Dagestan.

These are voices from some of the camps' participants, who greatly enjoyed their time together with children from all over the Caucasus and - as one participant put it - learned a lot during their sojourns in the camps.

Alina: We have already changed the world

Svetlana: Soon, peace-building will encompass the entire planet

Zaur: After the Peace Camp at Ursdon, I became a much better person
