September 13, 2007: 13th European Meeting of the International Association for Adolescent Health opening in St. Petersburg

September 12th, 2007, the official opening of the 13-th European Meeting of the International Association for Adolescent Health took place in St. Petersburg. The conference was organized by the Department of Adolescent Medicine of the St.Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education and the Resource Centre for the Development of a Network of Youth-Friendly Clinics in cooperation with the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The conference is expected to focus on issues related to the development of a network of youth-friendly clinics, which presently is one of the most promising trends in the sphere of adolescent health.

Some 300 people participate in the conference, including over 50 foreign representatives. The conference participants will share their experience in the area of socio-medical problems of adolescent health and discuss ways to address these problems. They will also have an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the practical experience of the biggest in Russia Yuventa youth clinic located in Saint Petersburg.

The conference will finish its work on September 14, 2007.
