"Face to Face" - a UNICEF campaign in IKEA shops around Moscow

From August, 2 till October, 2, 2006 UNICEF will run its second “Face To Face” campaign in IKEA shops around Moscow. Five days a week, Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm our young facers dressed in blue UNICEF T-shirts and jackets will appear in IKEA shops, collecting donations and recruiting new pledge donors keen to support UNICEF efforts to uphold the rights of Russian children.
Those interested will receive all the information regarding UNICEF particular projects to be financially backed up as well as overall UNICEF activities and achievements. Even the most insignificant amount of money handed over to our facers and transferred afterwards to UNICEF in Russia bank account will be gratefully accepted and forwarded to UNICEF Child Protection Program.
Similar campaign was already carried out in December last year, when during a three weeks period owing to indifference of many IKEA and “Moskovski” department store customers it became possible to collect 200,000 rubles. Those funds were aimed to support one of Moscow shelters and were of crucial importance for children in need.

“Face to Face” campaigns are being carried out by UNICEF in such countries as Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Brazil and many others. They turned into the significant financial sources for UNICEF programs having united more than 150,000 donors all over the world. Today those susceptible to children’s problems in Russia have a good chance to join them. Our facers are going to offer IKEA customers not only to make a single contribution but to become our pledge donors.

UNICEF and IKEA have been cooperating in ideas and activities to support and protect children for some 10 years now, the last 2 of them – in the Russian Federation. In this period, IKEA has invested about USD 150,000 towards the UNICEF program of socio-psychological integration of disabled children and orphans through art and play therapy. Over 1,300 children aged 3 to 17 have benefited from the project in the Moscow and Vladimir regions. This year, IKEA is investing a further USD 170,000 towards the UNICEF program of inclusive education to help children who may be physically or intellectually challenged to join in the mainstream of education and society.  Future cooperation will include support to other UNICEF programmes working with street children, child poverty and de-institutionalisation.
We would also like to thank BTL-agency “Amma” and ConMark DM for their technical support provided for the campaign.
