May 15, 2006: Drug Store Chain 36,6 and UNICEF – “Childhood Full of Colors for Every Child”
UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and OAO ”Drug Stores Chain 36,6” announced a joint charity programme: “Childhood Full of Colors for Every Child”. From this date the customers of all Drug stores “36,6” in Moscow and the Moscow region can take part in the “Childhood Full of Colors for Every Child” Programme by buying bracelets in any of the drug stores. 200 000 bracelets are planned to be sold during the campaign for the price of 36,6 RUR. This new initiative will help the more than 30, 000 children currently homeless in Russia with all funds raised being invested in UNICEF’s programmes for Street Children. While living in the street, children’s lives and health are permanently in danger. The money made from the sale of the bracelets will support, among other initiatives, a ‘medical bus’ offering treatment to children living permanently or most of the time out of their homes. Another important UNICEF focus in the “Street Children programme” is establishing and developing institutions for homeless children and developing the professional skills of the specialists helping these often socially – excluded children.
