UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and OAO ”Drug Stores Chain 36,6” announced a joint charity programme:  “Childhood Full of Colors for Every Child”.

From this date the customers of all Drug stores “36,6” in Moscow and the Moscow region can take part in the “Childhood Full of Colors for Every Child” Programme by buying  bracelets in any of the drug stores.

200 000 bracelets are planned to be sold during the campaign for the price of 36,6 RUR.

This new initiative will help the more than 30, 000 children currently homeless in Russia with all funds raised being invested in UNICEF’s programmes for Street Children. While living in the street, children’s lives and health are permanently in danger. The money made from the sale of the bracelets will support, among other initiatives, a ‘medical bus’ offering treatment to children living permanently or most of the time out of their homes. Another important UNICEF focus in the “Street Children programme” is establishing and developing institutions for homeless children and developing the professional skills of the specialists helping these often socially – excluded  children.

Comments:

Artem Bektemirov, Drug Stores Chain 36,6 General Director:
“This joint project with UNICEF is 36.6’s first experience in charity. We thank UNICEF for their support in this project and for being a reliable partner in helping us develop our first charity programme. By its very essence, a Pharmaceutical business is socially oriented and now we want to explore the possibilities for a large retail chain to encourage Muscovites to join our efforts in helping children in need.”

Carel De Rooy, UNICEF Representative in Russia and Belarus:
The “Street Children” programme is one of UNICEF priorities in Russia as this category of children is likely the most vulnerable part of Russian society. We appreciate very much that lately Russian business community try to play more and more considerable part in social activities. We are also grateful that the employees and management of Drug Stores Chain 36,6 Company have become driven by the existing problems of Russian children and have offered to support such an important UNICEF programme in Russia. We hope that our joint project will help to make the lives of more children full with more colors and happiness and will both: put a basis for our future fruitful cooperation and set a good example to other Russian companies”.
