July 3, 2009: UNICEF presented the Youth Friednly Clinics programme in Russia

For the first time in Russian history, the European Congress of pediatricians (Europediatrics-2009) took place in Moscow from 3 to 6 July 2009 with participation of more than 3 500 leading scientists, doctors, organizers of children's public health services from Russia and the countries of Europe. Besides European experts, representatives of the American Academy of Pediatrics, professional associations of paediatricians from China, India and the countries of Latin America participated in the Congress.  The motto of the Congress is "East and West, North and South: Balanced paediatric care in Europe" . That meant no strict thematic focus, but a variety of different subjects, from clinical care to public health issues.

On Monday, July 6, Professor Alexander Kulikov from St-Petersburg Medical Academy of postgraduate studies made a presentation on behalf of UNICEF on YFS programme in Russia.

Currently, there are more 117 Youth Friendly Clinics in Russia. They provide not only qualified medical care, but also counseling to young people on all aspects of adolescent health and healthy life style. Youth Friendly clinics carry out their activities based on the following three principles: Accessibility, Voluntariness and Friendliness.
