International Contest “On the Safe Road to Safe Future”

The Department for Road Safety of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Office in Russia and the editorial office of “The Kind Road of Childhood” newspaper are pleased to call an international contest named “On the Safe Road to Safe Future”

How do you see roads of the future?
Paint it with the pencil or color.
Fantasize in front of the PC, make a collage.
Dream about roads of tomorrow and in 20 years.
Everything is in your hands!

The contest is associated with the First Global Ministerial Conference on road safety (Time For Action). The contest is carried out in the framework of implementation of UNICEF Global Child-Friendly Cities Initiative.

Children and young people aged 5 to 16 years old from Russia, CIS and all over the world are invited to participate in the contest by submitting their artworks on the following subject: "How to make the place I live in more child-friendly", including road safety aspects.

The winners of the contest will be awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes. Best works will be placed on organizers’ websites, in the Kind Road of Childhood newspaper and included in the newspaper’s  library.

The artworks are accepted until September 1, 2009 (date as per postmark) or until September 7, 2009 (if sent by e-mail). The address is 125009, Moscow, Strastnoy blvd., 6, building. 2, office 5, or konkurs@dddgazeta.ru.

Contest requirements

  • The artworks allowed to the contest should be A4, A3 or A2 format. They can be made in color, inc, pencil, pastel, felt pen.
  • The accepted techniques include painting, graphic, poster, stained glass. Scanned works in jpeg format with either length or width not less than 3000 dots are also accepted. Attachment size should not exceed 4 MB.
  • Photographs can be made by film or digital camera. Collages should be made using graphic design tools. Photographs and collages are accepted either as 15х20 - 20х30 prints, on CD/DVD or by e-mail. Attachment size should not exceed 4 MB.
  • Every artwork should be signed either in Russian, English, French or German indicating the title, name of the author, age, full return address, contact phone number. The signature should be placed ether on the front side (without overlapping the image) or on the back side. The signature should be legible.
  • Artworks presented in electronic format should be signed in the supporting file containing the artwork filename along with the author’s details. Photographs should also be supported by the description of the registered facts or situations.
