30 October 2008: DevInfo Workshop to be held in Moscow todayA workshop on the application of the DevInfo database to monitor and evaluate child-oriented social programs is scheduled to be held in Moscow today. In February 2008, the Moscow City Government adopted a draft program on the implementation of its policy strategy for children for 2008-2017 entitled "Children of Moscow". One of the principal components of this strategy is a set of indicators that allows both to track implementation progress with respect to the scheduled activities and assess their efficiency. The DevInfo database presented at the workshop can serve as an ideal framework for measuring and analyzing indicators and demonstrating results. DevInfo is a powerful database system developed in cooperation with the UN agencies that has been adapted from UNICEF ChildInfo technology. With the help of the DevInfo database, one can easily produce graphs, tables, maps for reports and presentations. Besides, DevInfo maintains indicators by time periods and geographic areas and can be easily adjusted to meet users’ needs. The DevInfo is available free of charge and can be used to monitor the efficiency of all sorts of social programs. UNICEF recommends using DevInfo within the framework of the UNICEF global initiative Child Friendly City. For additional information please refer to Elena Zotova, UNICEF Social Policy Officer
