Short Course Training Manual This is a joint HIV/STI/MNCH regional initiative of Asia-Pacific UN PPTCT Task Force aimed to promote a common systematic approach to eliminating new paediatric HIV and congenital syphilis infections and improving maternal and child health and survival. The document provides a regional perspective and rationale for each element of the framework, including vision, goal, targets, programmatic objectives and strategic directions. _________________________________________________
_________________________________________________ PPTCT Fact Sheets for South Asian Countries Country-specific PPTCT Fact Sheets have been developed for all eight South Asian countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). These serve as a baseline for monitoring country progress towards the elimination of new HIV infections and congenital syphilis. As part of the regional efforts towards elimination, a costing tool aimed at supporting countries to estimate the costs of eliminating new paediatric HIV infection and congenital syphilis was also developed. _____________________________________________________ eMTCT Costing tool As part of the regional efforts towards elimination, the National Centre for Global Health (Japan) in collaboration with all Task Force core group members developed a costing tool aimed at supporting countries to estimate the costs of eliminating new paediatric HIV infections and congenital syphilis. _____________________________________________________ 8th Asia-Pacific PPTCT Task Force Meeting report The 8th meeting of the Asia-Pacific UN Task Force for the Prevention of Parents-to-Child Transmission of HIV was held on 23-25 November 2010 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The consultation was convened by United Nations Children’s Fund East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (UNICEF EAPRO) and Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA), World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) and South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS Regional Support Team for Asia and the Pacific (UNAIDS RSTAP). The meeting was historic in its adoption of the goal of eliminating PTCT and congenital syphilis (CS) in the region by 2015. Those involved in the response exchanged knowledge and experiences, and joined in group work to raise issues and propose solutions to potential barriers in achieving the goal of elimination. ____________________________________________________ 7th Asia-Pacific PPTCT Task Force Meeting report The 7th Asia-Pacific United Nations Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) Task Force meeting was held in Chennai, India, 22 – 24 September 2009.
