Action
Romania made a major breakthrough in the region once it embarked on the preparation of Early Learning and Development Standards. UNICEF supported the training of national experts in ELDS formulation and validation.
UNICEF also supported the setting up of a multi-sectoral task force that provided expertise and feed-back to the pool of national experts involved in the formulation of Early Learning and Development Standards. Once the ELDS were formulated the content validation process was launched, also as part of the cooperation agreement with UNICEF. Details of the age-validation process are currently being finalized, prior to the launching of this second validation process. UNICEF is already using the Romanian model (experience and expertise) for advocacy and replication in the wider CEE/CIS region.
