ERITREA  December  Children's Day - the Ministry of Labour and Human Welfare with the support of UNICEF will celebrate with a children's art exhibition, dramas, poetry, song and dance, media discussions on child rights on TV and radio, children's computer games and a school debate  
ETHIOPIA November 30 – December 2 Children’s Rights at a Cross-Roads - a global conference to engage policy makers, development agencies, NGOs, academics and youth in dialogue to strengthening child rights strategies for the future
LESOTHO  November 16  Young people/ Children’s workshop -  Children and young people will gather together at the UN house to prepare messages, poems, drawings and questions for the week long celebrations. *Media invited to cover
LESOTHO  November 17  Fun walk/March in support of Children’s Rights - A symbolic march with young people and relevant stakeholders aimed at raising awareness on child rights. The children will bring messages designed on children’s protection and rights for display during the march. Children will end the march outside parliament where they will deposit their messages and be welcomed by parliamentarians (interaction with parliamentarians) to discuss the provisions within the Child Protection and Welfare (CPW) Bill.

LESOTHO  November 18  TV debate -  Young people, UN, Civil Society (NGOC) and Government (MOJHR) to participate in a live debate on the importance of Child Rights including information on the CPW Bill. The Programme is in Sesotho at 7.30PM
LESOTHO  November 19  Panel discussion  between young people and stakeholders on the importance of the CPW Bill for children in Lesotho - Stakeholders including UN, Government, Civil Society, and young people (UN, NGOs, MOJHR, parliament representatives) will discuss and raise awareness on what the country is doing in relation to children’s rights and their protection and development. The children who formed part of the Junior LAW Reform Committee will also participate (children who developed the CPW Bill). The students will interact with stakeholders on children’s rights, work being done and information on the contents and status of CPW Bill. Highlight the importance of the CPW Bill for children in Lesotho.

MALAWI November 12 - 19  Advanced Media Training - Child rights training by the Media Council of Malawi, supported by UNICEF
MALAWI November 20  CRC Launch Events – the launch of a national report on 20 years of the CRC in Malawi plus a launch of the African Report on Child Well-Being by the Africa Child Policy Forum and the unveiling of a 2010 calendar showing key milestones in the last 20 years
MALAWI November 20  Commemorating the CRC@20 - will include the launch of a national report on 20 years of the CRC in Malawi where the president is being invites as a Guest of Honour.  Also, there will be a launch of the African Report on the Child Well-Being by the Africa Child Policy Forum and unveiling of the UNICEF Malawi 2010 calendar showing key milestones in the last 20 years.

MALAWI November 23 - 26  The 8th Malawi Children’s Parliament convenes -comprising 115 Child MPs, the Children’s Parliament has been held since 2001. This year’s parliament gives children the opportunity to reflect on 20 years of the CRC in Malawi and give their views on how Malawi can move forward to harmonize its laws with the CRC.
MALAWI November 25  Commemorative dinner for Members of Parliament - the Vice-President has been invited to be the Guest of Honour. Key advocacy issues include the National Registration Bill (Birth Registration Act), due to be presented to parliament in the November sitting, and other child-related legislations which have been pending for several years.
MOZAMBIQUE TBC Child Rights Concert – a concert in collaboration with well-known Mozambican artists and other personalities. The concert will be broadcast nationally to celebrate the CRC

National Children's Summit - over 400 elected child representatives from around the country will discuss child rights, particularly protection from violence, with senior decision-makers, including the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion

CRC Commemoration - the commemoration on the 20th anniversary of the CRC will be led by UNICEF together with the Department of Women, Youth, Children and People with Disabilities and children’s rights advocates key academic and civil society partners with the theme of children’s right to protection.
SOUTH AFRICA   October 20 -November 11  CRC Essay Competition - UNICEF has approached the 12 finalists of the Model UN debates with a competition to write an essay about the CRC. The essay will be published in the Mail & Guardian special supplement and on the UNICEF website. The winner will also be invited to take part in the launch event. Contestants will write on one of 3 topics.
SOUTH AFRICA   November 20  Media Coverage - a supplement will be published in the public affairs newspper Mail & Guardian about the impact of the CRC on the development of children over the past 20 years. Also UNICEF South Africa will place free A4 page advertorials in three magazines of Thetha media monthly
SOUTH AFRICA   October 16 - 31  Children's Radio Workshops - Children’s Radio Foundation will hold workshops with children and produce a radio series on the CRC that will air on SAFM, one of South Africa’s largest radio stations during their Saturday children’s show
SOUTH AFRICA   November 7 - 11  Eye See  Photo Workshop - Photo workshop and exhibition by 30 children with Giacomo Pirozzi will be held realizing children’s right to express their views on matters which affect them and to have access to media.
SOUTH AFRICA   December 2010  'The Teacher’ supplement - UNICEF will produce twelve one-page supplements for the Teacher newspaper, once a month throughout 2010, with a child-friendly text and suggested lessons plan on children’s rights

TANZANIA  November 5 - 30  Children's Interviews with Leaders – in seven regional consultations in Tanzania and Zanzibar, children will develop questions to ask of key leaders in the country concerning their vision for children in the next 5 years (November 5-15). Then they will get a chance to ask these questions (November 16-30)
TANZANIA  November 1 Media Coverage - TV, radio spots, newspaper and billboards on will cover the issues and questions raised by children during the regional consultations. Also, a 30-minute documentary called “What is Your Vision for Children” on the children’s interviews will be shot.
