 NEW YORK October 27 Governance: Good Enough for Children? – a presentation that will explore the connections between the child rights and governance perspectives. Moderated by Bill Bell, Head of Child Protection for Save the Children UK, it will include presentations by Hildre F. Johnson, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director; Dani Kaufmann, Brookings Institute; Assefa Bequele, African Child Policy Forum; and Phil Murteza, UNDP Anti-Corruption Advisor.  NEW YORK November 2 Launch of “Perspectives on the Convention” – the launch of a series of  essays from a broad range of contributors, to appear on the UNICEF website. The State of the World’s Children has invited each essayist to - in 1,000 words or less - reflect on the impact the Convention has made in his or her life and work, and offer suggestions to build on the treaty’s successes while addressing remaining challenges. Featuring more than 40 essays, the series will continue into the new year.
 NEW YORK November 3 "Art in All of Us" Photo and Art Exhibit Opening – The opening of an exhibit showcasing the photography, poetry and drawings gleaned from the work of 18,000 children from 300 schools in 192 countries. The exhibit aims to raise awareness of the CRC commemoration with UNICEF visitors and staff, and is based on a book of the same name for which UNICEF Executive Director Ms Ann M. Veneman wrote the foreword. Located in UNICEF House’s Danny Kaye Center, it will run through 31 January 2010.
 NEW YORK November 3 Launch of the International Children's Rights Film Festival – the launch of a festival of documentaries from around the world with a focus on child rights. The festival will launch in UNICEF House’s Danny Kaye Center and will also go to universities in New York and to at least 15 countries.
 NEW YORK November 16 World Day of Prayer and Action for Children - an inter-faith service on the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children designed to provide an opportunity for senior religious leaders, representatives of states and United Nations representatives to join in commemoration and reflecting on the CRC and the global challenges for its implementation.
 NEW YORK November 19 SOWC Launch – the launch of UNICEF’s flagship publication, the State of the World Children, focused this year on the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF Executive Director Ms. Ann Veneman will be accompanied by the UNICEF (US Fund) Goodwill Ambassador Lucy Liu and Grace Akallo, a former child soldier from Uganda.
NEW YORK November 19 Documentary Screening – a screening of the documentary Rescuing Emmanuel in New York and across the country, followed by a panel discussion. Sponsored by the US Fund for UNICEF & Media Voices for Children.
NEW YORK  November 17 - December 4  Prescription for Life Help Children Living with HIV exhibition -- an exhibition of photographs and letters by children to governments and pharmaceutical companies encouraging them to make accessible testing and treatment for infants and children living with HIV. Located in the United Nations outside Conference Room One on the gallery level. Reception is Thursday, November 19, 6:00 – 7:15 pm 
 NEW YORK November 20 CRC Official 20th Anniversary Commemoration – an event to celebrate achievements and assess future challenges, with speeches by UNICEF Executive Director Ann M. Veneman, President of UNICEF’s Executive Board Oumar Daou, Goodwill Ambassador Ishmael Beah and others.  The event will also give recognition to the active role played by civil society towards the realization of children’s rights.  Civil society leaders and youth activists will take part in a roundtable discussion. 
 NEW YORK November 20 Children's Rights and HIV - In partnership with UNAIDS and the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance, UNICEF will host a panel discussion to highlight the challenge of providing pediatric HIV drugs to children in need of treatment and reflect on children's rights to received treatment and care. Expected audience is civil society members, missions and business representatives.
