Campaigns

As part of its programme of cooperation, UNICEF Santo Domingo runs social mobilisation and communications activities with a strong educational component, aimed at raising public awareness about specific issues and bringing about individual and collective behavioural changes in relation to these issues.

The mass communications media are key social actors in this educational work and it is essential to motivate them to take on the commitment to publicise these initiatives. Likewise, community groups and citizens’ networks fulfil a very important role by providing face-to-face contact with the social sectors they work with, in a range of educational activities.

The campaigns concentrate and/or support priority issues such as:

Prevention of Early Sexual Initiation and HIV-AIDS Prevention,

Prevention of  Sexual Abuse and Commercial Sexual Exploitation,

Birth Registration,  and most recently,

Promotion of Iodised Salt Consumption.
