BRUSSELS, Belgium, 7 October 2013 – At the end of August 2013, top European Union officials endorsed UNICEF’s #ENDviolence initiative.

On the International Day of Non-Violence, 2 October, European Union representatives showed their sustained commitment for the initiative to end violence against children.

Posts and tweets were issued by key UNICEF partners, such as the European Commission – Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) and the Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation (EuropeAid), further strengthening the EU–UNICEF partnership in the fight to #ENDviolence against children.

Such European officials as President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva not only raised social media awareness for the initiative, but they also physically offered their ‘helping hand’ by stamping the #ENDviolence logo on their hands.
