Voices of Youth (VOY) provides
over 20,000 young people from 180 countries with an opportunity to explore,
discuss and take action on complex human rights and development issues.
Since 1995, VOY has focused on:
Exploring the
educational and community building potential of the Internet, and
Facilitating the
active and substantive participation of young people on issues as varied
as: HIV/AIDS ° Gender Inequality
° Child Rights °
Girl's Education ° Child Protection
against violence, abuse and exploitation
Youth to Youth:
Through web boards, interactive quizzes, youth activist profiles,
live chats and more, VOY provides youth with an opportunity to self-inform
and engage in lively debate, as well as fosters peer education and a
youth web-based community. With 63% of all participants girls between
the ages of 5 and 21, and 35% from developing countries, Voices of
Youth is unique in its ability to reach and connect young people
around the world.
Making a global impact:
Voices of Youth recognizes the urgent need to ensure decision
makers and policy planners hear what young people have to say. Acting
as a two-way communications hub, VOY enables youth and decision makers
to interact and impact one another in a consistent and substantive manner,
thus setting the foundation for youth friendly and informed policies.

I am
used to beating, this is nothing new in my our culture. Boys can beat
or even harrass you. Even if you would feel bad about it, there is
nothing that you can do. Melody, Namibia,

With over 250 million children employed under the age of 15, I think
it is imperative that we as a society step in and intervene. During
this time children should be in school learning, instead of working
in a factory. J. Thomas, Djibouti, 14
Hi, I know for a fact that all over the world, children are being
abused both sexually and physically. This is not right and something
needs to be done to fix it. Children are young and their minds are
still developing. If you perform violent acts around them, they will
grow up to be juvenile delinquents, or even worse abuse their own
kids. Some people just don't realize how special every child is, because
they are all creations of God. Susan, USA,

Hello,
i think that war is wrong. People think that blacks are different
from whites. They treated us badly, they hurted us, they killed us,
they talked about us. Now i'm not saying that everybody is like that.
I'm just saying that people need to stop hating each other and love
each other and see how much we could do together without fighting.

I
believe that fathers should talk to their daughters about sex and
take active interest in their daughters well-being. By this I mean,
they should talk to their daughters about other men and trying to
build their girls' self-esteem. I believe that this is an integral
part of preventing girls from contracting HIV which leads to AIDS.
My final point is that we should be allowed to ask exactly what we
want to know concerning AIDS and sex, even though it may seem ridiculous
or unusual to an adult conservative person.

My
name is Marlene from Indonesia. I know my country was and is, in fact,
one of many poor countries in the world. Here you can see lots of
children on bare feet wandering around without knowing where should
they go to. They have neither house nor families. I really concern
about this but I don't know what to do. BUT I know I have to do something.Marlene,

I believe that young teens who have variuos facilities should get
together and start forums and clubs in thier own country and link
them on an international scale to help their friends and conterparts
of the world who suffer and cannot avail even the basic facilities
of education. Also young teens can help other teens with their self
esteem related problems and help to boost their self confidence because
I believe every individual born on this planet has the right to achieve
success whether the child is a boy or a girl, whether the child is
rich or poor. Nandini, India, 16
