The rise of immunization and the fall of polio
The chart shows the results of the long struggle to reach the internationally
agreed goal of 80% immunization by 1990.
By the year 2000, there will be at least 5 million children under 10 who will
be growing up normally but who would have been paralysed for life were it not for the effort to reach this goal.
