The survey was conducted in 17 countries and territories that were divided into groups based on population size and heterogeneity with sample sizes as follows:

• China (1,900)
• Indonesia (1,000)
• Viet Nam (600)
• In most places the sample size was 500: Australia, Cambodia, East Timor, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Republic of Korea, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
• Hong Kong (300)
• Macao (200)
