NEW YORK, USA, 1 June 2009 – Montblanc has announced the launch of their ‘Signature for Good’ collection – a range of special edition products which will raise 1.5 million dollars for UNICEF’s education and literacy programmes for children worldwide. Earlier this year, Montblanc hosted a high profile charity gala in Hollywood with the cooperation of artistic initiative 'Signature International' to announce the collection.

The ‘Montblanc Signature for Good’ charity event featured portraitures by American photographer Roger Moenks of twelve internationally known actresses: Emily Blunt, Marcia Cross, Andie MacDowell, Helen Hunt, Lauren Hutton, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Lange, Eva Longoria, Sienna Miller, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and Mira Sorvino.

For every item sold in the Signature for Good collection between 1 June 2009 and 31 May 2010 Montblanc will donate part of the proceeds to UNICEF.

‘Signature for Good’

UNICEF believes that all children have the right to education. They deserve to be able to read and write and take advantage of all the opportunities that literacy can bring. Yet, worldwide, only 60 per cent of children of secondary school age are enrolled in secondary school.

Montblanc shares UNICEF’s commitment towards the value of reading and writing and has been a dedicated supporter of UNICEF’s education programmes since 2004 by funding work in Africa, Latin American and Asia.

“We take our commitment to UNICEF and the children it serves very seriously. We urge support for children who do not have access to education cannot stop when times are tough,” said CEO of Montblanc International Lutz Bethge.

Providing supplies and training teachers

UNICEF trains teachers, provides school supplies and distributes education kits in emergencies to enable children to continue learning even in fragile environments. The organization also advocates with governments to improve education policies to benefit every child.

In one year alone, UNICEF provided education kits and school provisions to over 12 million students and more than 100,000 teachers.

The right to education

The Signature for Good campaign will help raise funds to support UNICEF worldwide education and literacy programmes.

"Children have a right to education. Thanks to this unique and effective partnership, UNICEF is able to  provide children with schools, learning tools, well-trained teachers and, more importantly, we provide them with a chance to grow up to a healthy adulthood. We are grateful to Montblanc for their generous contribution,” said Chief of Corporate and Foundations Fundraising for UNICEF Nichole Brown.
