Water, sanitation & hygiene
Saru’s day #1

Nepal, 2012: (Left-right) 7-year-old Saru Saud and her 5-year-old sister, Laxmi, who both attend school, complete homework in their impoverished village of Biraltoli. Saru is the eldest of her family’s four children, all girls. The youngest is 1 year old. Many impoverished Nepalese struggle to obtain food, safe water, adequate sanitation and health care. Saru and other children who help support their households play a critical role in their family’s survival.
