Iraq, 2014: Syrian boys in Domiz refugee camp, in the northern Dohuk Governorate. Over 2.8 million people have now fled the conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic, seeking refuge in nearby Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. Many of these refugees continue to face inadequate access to basic services, such as education, health care, water and sanitation – a risk that is even greater for the 85 per cent of Syrian refugees living outside formal camps.
