Sayera, Nepal

Nepal, 2015: “The most important thing to me is shelter. Our rental house totally collapsed,” says Sayera. She and her baby began living in an informal camp following the massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 April, leaving over 7,000 people dead and destroying nearly 191,000 houses. Another earthquake – measuring 7.3 in magnitude – struck the country on 12 May, prolonging and complicating recovery efforts that had only recently begun.
