Can You See Me?
Iván, 10, Bolivia

December 2013: Iván Suyo and his parents live in a shack outside the Cerro Rico mines, in Potosí Department. He, his 13-year-old brother and his mother dig for minerals outside the entrance to one of the mines; his 15-year-old brother works inside it. The family moved to the area seven years ago after losing their cattle to cold weather and drought. “Sometimes, I would like to go back [home], and, sometimes, I like living at the mine,” says Iván, who now attends elementary school.
