Refugees & displaced
A year of conflict

Central African Republic, 2014: “The problem is when it rains, everything becomes muddy,” says 13-year-old Alexandra of the Bangui encampment she now calls home. By late November, some 430,000 people in the Central African Republic were internally displaced – 61,000 of them in the capital – because of violence. December 2014 marks one year since fighting broke out in Bangui, worsening already desperate living conditions for children and women in the Central African Republic.
