A tragic anniversary #1

Rwanda, 1994: The civil conflict displaced 350,000 people internally and forced 2 million others to flee to neighbouring countries. Children and women huddle next to their makeshift tents on an eroded hillside in the Cyanika camp, home to some 25,000 displaced people, near the town of Gikongoro. April 2014 marks the twentieth anniversary of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, during which an estimated 800,000 adults and children were systematically slaughtered.
