Safa’s story #1

Jordan, 2013: Safa’s father pushes her to school, with two of Safa’s sisters nearby. The family of nine – including 6-year-old Safa, her parents, grandmother and five siblings – now lives in the Za’atari refugee camp. Safa’s family fled fighting in the Syrian city of Aleppo and took refuge in an abandoned farmhouse in rural Damascus. There, her family was caught in an attack that left Safa gravely injured – she lost her right leg and suffered burns and shrapnel wounds.
