Investigate. Find out where government and agencies are lacking in terms of their CRC obligations, and report on them.
Walk your talk. Put the principles of ethical reporting at the core of what you do. Avoid stereotyping children and sensationalize stories about them. Promote children as persons with rights and dignity. Read more on the Principles for Ethical Reporting on Children or visit the Child Rights Information Network website
Bring out the positive. Profile children that have come out of difficult situations successfully. Center on solutions rather than problems, recovery rather than abuse. Show children’s resilience yet focus on what still can be done to remedy the situation.
Let the children speak. Bring out children’s voices in articles and videos. Let them express themselves freely about their feelings, their dreams and hopes.
