Take action for children’s rights! “It takes a village to raise a child.” The old African proverb also holds true in our barangays in the Philippines, where we cherish each child as one of our own. Your role in this village is important in ensuring that Filipino children lead happy and healthy lives. In the Philippines, children make up 37% of the population. Though Filipino culture considers children as treasures of the home and the hope of the nation, many of them still do not enjoy their rights to play, learn and be protected from violence. This primer is to guide UNICEF friends and supporters on how you can help uplift children’s rights in the Philippines, in your own small but crucial way.
