A Promise Renewed
Through national action and international cooperation, governments have pledged to take action to accelerate the progress on newborn, child and maternal survival.
The Philippines has been able to reduce the number of under-5 child deaths in the country by half since 1990. This is an important step towards one ambitious but simple goal: to end preventable child deaths around the world.
But much more needs to be done. On 23 April 2014, the Philippines renewed its commitment to reduce child and maternal deaths in the country. This commitment was declared by policymakers and stakeholders at the close of the A Promise Renewed for Kalusugan Pangkalahatan forum.
UNICEF is supporting the Philippine Government in recommitting its efforts to give every Filipino child the best possible start in life.
This is our promise for the children of the Philippines. Make it yours, too.
