KNN reporter Apple of Manila goes for a man-on-the-street interview in a village in Quezon City.

Makati City, 16 August 2005 --- Kabataan News Network (KNN), the Philippine’s only national TV show produced by children, moves to a 4 pm timeslot at ABC Channel 5, a mainstream station.

KNN features stories written and shot by a team of young reporters from 11 cities and provinces in the Philippines namely, Manila, Cebu, Davao, Baguio, Dumaguete, Mt. Province, Camarines Norte, North Cotabato, Sarangani, and Zamboanga del Sur. Each team is called a Youth Bureau and composed of young people aged 13 to 18.

Trained by the Probe Media Foundation, the reporters present a weekly staple of segments about Filipino children and their communities. Recent stories include indigenous children in a Sarangani village who do not go to school, Manila street kids who ply public utility vehicles shining passengers’ shoes, and a trip to a children’s conference in Cambodia.

KNN promotes the Filipino youth’s right to participate by staunchly advocating their freedom to express their views and sentiments on issues affecting them. KNN is a project of the Probe Media Foundation and UNICEF Philippines. It is also aired on NBN Channel 4 at 11 a.m. on Sundays and daily on Nickelodeon as short segments.

KNN is also supported by the Canadian International Agency for Development (CIDA) and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
