| In
provinces and cities where UNICEF does not provide direct assistance,
UNICEF works with local government executives on: |
- Promoting the
Child-Friendly Movement – UNICEF supports local government
units, to enable them to deliver the “Four Gifts for
Children”: (1) The Local Development Plan for Children;
(2) Local Investment Plan for Children; (3) Local Code on
Children; and, (4) regular reporting on the state of children
- Monitoring
children’s rights – UNICEF helps recognize high-impact
and sustainable governance practices and activities for
children, and promotes assessing the child-friendliness
of local government units from the barangay (village) to
the provincial level using self-assessment tools
- Institution
and capacity-building – UNICEF assists local government
units in crafting local ordinances on children and mainstreaming
child rights in local development planning
