| While
many children enrol in school, only 63 per cent complete primary
school, and the quality of education remains poor in many areas
of the country. UNICEF works primarily with the Department of
Education on: |
- Ensuring that
children are ready for school, and schools are ready for
children (Early Childhood Care and Development) –
UNICEF supports home-based and centre-based day care for
preschool children, including materials and training for
caregivers
Transforming schools into Child-Friendly Learning Systems
– UNICEF provides basic supplies and training of teachers
and school heads/supervisors on child-friendly approaches
and practices
