Who We Are
UNICEF is an agency of the United Nations devoted to serving the world’s children. UNICEF is more than 8,000 men and women working in 155 countries and territories to promote and protect the rights of children. UNICEF began providing assistance to the Philippines in November 1948. Since then, we and the Philippine government have been partners in protecting Filipino children. UNICEF in the Philippines has more than 60 people working to promote and protect the rights of children. We aim to provide the best quality of life for every Filipino child through programmes that help them survive and flourish. We implement programmes covering education, health and nutrition, HIV and AIDS prevention, child protection, communication, and local policy and institutional development. We support the Child-Friendly Movement, which engages all levels of government, non-government partners, civil society, other United Nations agencies, and children themselves. We are the world’s leading child rights advocacy organization. Our global experience and mandate allow us to influence and support decision makers to create a world fit for children. Our expertise and commitment help the Philippines meet the challenges facing children and those who safeguard them.
