Whoopi Goldberg Activity Highlights
2008 • November • In New York, Ms. Goldberg filmed a PSA for the US Fund for UNICEF’s Believe in Zero campaign which is based on the premise that the number of children who die every day from preventable causes - 25,000 – should be reduced to zero.
2005 • November • In New York, Ms. Goldberg participated in the lighting of the UNICEF Snowflake, a 16-foot outdoor ornament of 12,000 Baccarat crystals at the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Snowflake was dedicated to UNICEF in 2002 as a beacon of hope, peace and compassion for vulnerable children around the world.
2005 • October • In New York, Ms. Goldberg announced the winning poster design in an international competition that raised awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS on children. (Newsline)
2003 • December • In Los Angeles, Ms. Goldberg hosted the UNICEF Goodwill Gala, which celebrated 50 years of celebrity advocacy. The Gala raised US$1.5 million for the “Audrey Hepburn All Children in School Fund.” (Press Release)
