2006 • November • In New York, Ms. Sarandon presented an award for children’s broadcasting at the 34th International Emmy Awards gala in New York last night. (Newsline)

2005 • January • In New York, Ms. Sarandon participated in an NBC TV telethon in support of UNICEF's South Asia tsunami relief efforts. (PSA)

2003 • April • In Brazil, Ms. Sarandon filmed an episode on child labour for the “What’s Going On?” a family television series profiling the lives of three children. A UN Works co-production, the programme explores critical global issues such as war, environmental degradation, discrimination and poverty through the eyes of a child. (What’s Going on)

2000 • November • In India, Ms. Sarandon visited projects for young children and raised awareness of the importance of early childhood development.  She visited villages with women’s literacy and self-esteem training programmes. (archive)

2000 • May • In the United Republic of Tanzania, Ms. Sarandon visited UNICEF health and education programmes including a community theatre that uses drama to inform young people about the risks of HIV/AIDS. She opened a youth centre and met the President and other senior government officials. She also co-sponsored the ‘Dig a Well for UNICEF’ fund-raising campaign. (archive)
